Whether viewed as a cut-through from Mulholland Hwy. towards the coast or a destination in its own right, Stunt Rd. is a lot of fun. While at only 4 miles long you're at the end almost as soon as you start, the short distance in between is a great place to be.

In some ways this road reminds me of a miniature Latigo Canyon, with a good mix of elevation change, tight curves, and a few high-speed sweepers as the road winds its way up from Mulholland to the crest and the intersection of Saddle Peak.

I typically use this road as part of a loop, with Mulholland Hwy. headed out of the heart of the Malibu region, and Saddle Peak taking me down to Tuna Cyn. on my way home. While Stunt doesn't have the length of Mulholland or the technical thrill of Tuna, there isn't quite the risk of falling off the edge of the earth like Tuna and less traffic than Mulholland.

The northern section is relatively flat and runs past a few houses, but visibility is good and the driveways aren't right up against some of the other roads in the area. Once past the houses there are a few high-speed sweepers before the road turns south and heads up the mountain.

As the road heads uphill along the side of the mountain things get real interesting. There is a short section with lots of s-curves but nothing too difficult, followed by a hairpin corner that flips the road to the other side of the mountain for an entire new set of views. This final section heads up to the crest of the hill with a variety of sweepers and short straights before hitting the Y and Saddle Peak.

The northern section (orange) runs past a few houses and is fairly flat, but is quickly followed by a great section that heads uphill through a driveway-free zone.
