This road isn't too bad in its own right, but is more commonly used to get up the mountain to the really good stuff. Perhaps the biggest drawback to this road is that it has a fairly high amount of houses and driveways, at least by Malibu standards.

The entire road is very tight without any real straights, but the southern section (green on map at right) has some houses and even a school right up against the edge of the road. Use caution in this section, as it would be easy to end up in someone's mail-box and anyone backing out of a driveway is not going to be able to see you until too late.

Once past the school (headed north), the houses disappear for a while as the road clings to the side of the mountain. This is a very technical road, with tight hair-pin curves and a constant climb in elevation. Watch out for old storm damage, who knows when the County will get around to replacing the missing sections that as of now require stopping for alternate-flow traffic.

Towards the top you will find some more houses, but they aren't as close to the road as the ones farther south. There are a series of switchbacks at the northern end, if headed north be especially careful of the one at the end of the only straight - it is very tight and sneaks up on you.

If headed into the mountains (northbound direction) be sure to make a right when the road T's off with Rambla Pacifica, the southbound direction has no outlet.

A fun way up the hill, but watch out for driveways and a tricky hairpin.

Not much holding the road to the side of the mountain.

Heading north up the canyon. Piuma at the top left (cyan), and Saddle peak at the top (white).
