YERBA BUENA RD. Date reviewed - 8/03 _________________________________ Fun . . . . . . . . 5 Difficulty . . . . .High Traffic . . . . . . Light Driveways . . . .Light Condition . . . . Poor to Fair Length . . . . . .11 miles _________________________________ This road is brutal. It climbs from sea level at PCH several thousand feet into the Malibu Hills. To do this it has many, many switchbacks. I have only driven the entire length in the uphill direction, I wouldn't like to think what this would do to your brakes if you tried the downhill route. It isn't a very obvious turnout from PCH, but you can find it by taking the road just north of Neptunes. There are houses on this road so keep a lookout for other cars and driveways, but luckily the traffic is very light. Most people use Mullholland Hwy. or Decker Rd. to get up the hills, so you can have this almost completely to yourself. Just make sure your arms aren't tired, there isn't one straight on this road. At the top, where the name changes to Little Sycamore Cyn. Rd. (as the road nears Mulholland Hwy.), the inside lane gets very narrow for a couple of corners so be careful. This makes a great loop with Mulholland Hwy. (red on map) which is listed below. You can head up Yerba Buena, across the top, and down Mulholland Hwy. back to PCH. |
Yellow: Yerba Buena Rd.
Red: Mulholland Hwy. Cyan: Deer Creek
Climbing up away from the beach and Neptune's Net restaurant.
Running up and over the ridge towards Mulholland Hwy.
